Choir

Make a joyful noise unto the Lord! Ps. 98

Welcome! St. Basil's Russian Orthodox Choir is a volunteer group of about fifteen members who strive to create a beautiful prayerful atmoshphere during every church service. Most of the music is sung in English, though we hope to add several Slavonic selections to our repertoire. Currently, the choir performs many styles of music including Russian Znamenny and Kievan Chant, the eight tones, including special melodies, as well as Serbian, Romanian and Greek music. We hope our music represents the varied ethnic background of St. Basil's parish.

Rehearsals occur once each week, after Liturgy, on Sunday. Each member is required to attend at least two rehearsals every month and at least three warm-ups. Please notify the choir director of any extenuating circumstances. The choir practices vocal techniques, basic music theory and music for upcoming services. It is helpful to have an email account as most communications and practice materials are distributed via the web.

Rehearsal: Sunday*

Warm-up - 9:30

Weekly Rehearsal - 12:30 to 1:30pm

*Other warm-ups will be held during important feasts which are celebrated on a weekday, such as Nativity and the Parish Feast Day.
